Introduction
Fluid Power Services (FPS), established in 1991 and located in Davenport, has remained a leader in the Fluid Power Industry in Tasmania for over 31 years. Part of the larger Cooper Fluid Systems family, FPS specialises in the design, manufacture, and maintenance of hydraulic and pneumatic systems; where they work alongside their industry partners in mining, hydroelectric, manufacturing, timber and agriculture to “create industry specific solutions”. As part of the Cooper Fluid Systems group, they offer national support and additional capabilities in lubrication systems, fire suppression, industrial hoses and waste and recycling equipment.
The national company, Cooper Fluid Systems, began over 50 years ago in 1972 and specialises in the design, manufacture, installation, supply and repair of hydraulic, lubrication, refuelling, fluid dispensing, fire suppression and high force tooling systems and components.

Background
FPS recently started work on a new project for a High-Pressure Lubrication Oil Sprayer. This project was very critical, with very limited installation time, which required the need to look at a different technique to help reduce the overall installation time.
FPS partnered with Ibex Australia to utilise their unique and innovative VIS-LOK Compression System, as well as our superior and renowned Tubepress Press Fit system. The VIS-LOK and Tubepress systems offered a significant reduction in installation time over traditional techniques like flaring and welding.
Brendan Fielding, Business Development Manager with FPS, has personally worked alongside Ibex for over 10 years, and highly recommended the VIS-LOK compression fittings and Tubepress press fit as the best solutions for this project for increased quality and a reduction in installation time.
Solution & Results
While normally flared hydraulic tubing is used for projects such as this, due to the tight timeframes required for installation, traditional methods could not be utilised here.
Fluid Power Services partnered with Ibex to use our VIS-LOK and Tubepress ranges.
Our VIS-LOK stainless steel compression fittings were used for high pressure sprayer systems. VIS-LOK utilises an innovative red check-ring system to ensure fittings are at the correct tightness every time, eliminating guesswork and over-tightening of fittings.
Our Tubepress 316L stainless steel press fit tube and fittings were used for low pressure filling of their lubrication tank. Our Tubepress system is Australia’s premium German-made 316L stainless steel press fit system and features a 3-level press and a manufacturer backed 40 bar fluid pressure rating.
Both of these systems reduced the lead time on the High-Pressure Lubrication Oil Sprayer project, and the materials being polished 316L stainless steel had the finished project looking “like a million dollars”!
