Are rising copper prices starting to impact your bottom line? For plumbers, the choice between copper and stainless steel isn’t just about material – it’s about cost efficiency and reliability. With copper prices soaring, switching to stainless steel press fit solutions makes more sense than ever. Stainless steel offers a competitive price point while delivering superior durability and performance.
Make the switch — from copper to stainless steel press fit
Choosing stainless steel has never been easier
Since the end of 2023, global copper prices have drastically surged, making it increasingly expensive to build copper piping systems. With recent advancements in stainless steel press fit technology, you can solve your piping solutions with enhanced quality and an ease of installation, making the reliance on expensive copper solutions a thing of the past.
Why go with stainless steel for your tubing?
Our range of press fit systems are made of high-quality stainless steel, come with up to 50 bar pressure rating, and boast many features that will make you never want to turn back.
Stainless steel is a cost-effective solution, offering superior corrosion resistance and strength without a significant price premium. This makes stainless steel a smart investment with long-term savings in maintenance and replacements.
Stainless steel pipes are lighter and easier to handle, which speeds up installation and reduces labour costs. Stainless steel also provides immense strength and durability, meaning fewer supports are needed. This simplifies the installation process, saving you time and money.
Stainless steel’s superior corrosion resistance makes it ideal for harsh environments, ensuring long-lasting performance with reduced maintenance costs.
Due to its reliance on nickel, stainless steel is a stable priced commodity. This stability allows for more predictable budgeting and helps avoid unexpected cost increases during a project.
Stainless steel is available in a wide range of sizes and is compatible with various applications, from water systems to gas lines. This versatility allows plumbers to use one material across different systems, reducing inventory complexity and costs.
The perfect solution for commercial projects
For commercial developments and high-rise buildings, choosing stainless steel for your piping over traditional copper systems offers significant advantages. The larger the pipe size, the greater the value of stainless steel compared to copper.
As projects scale up, the benefits become even more pronounced. Stainless steel’s superior flow rates and higher pressure ratings also make it the ideal option for larger scale applications such as rising mains in high-rise towers, where consistent performance is critical.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Our stainless steel press fit systems are suitable for a range of applications, gas, water, LPG, natural gas, hydrocarbons, compressed air, and much more. For steam applications, stainless steel offers superior strength and corrosion resistance compared to traditional copper systems
Our press fit systems are available in a wide range of sizes, starting from 15mm to as large as 168mm in our Impress Large Bore range.
We use either 316L or 304L stainless steel for most of our tubing products, a material known for its superior corrosion resistance. This is achieved through a combination of molybdenum content (at least 2.5%) and cold-finish processing. The presence of molybdenum enhances resistance to chloride corrosion, making it suitable for harsh environments like chemical installations and marine applications. The seamless design also ensures there are no weak points where corrosion could begin, providing durable, long-lasting performance.
Ibex stainless steel tubing, between 15mm to 28mm can be bent cold with suitable bending tools to fit your needs. A bending radius of at least r = 3.5 x d is to be maintained. After bending, a sufficiently long tube section is required to fit connections. If you have any questions about bending our stainless steel tube, please contact our team of experts who are happy to give you a hand.
